There were a number of sketch books which Barbara Argles split up (probably in about 1990), and grouped in frames which she gave to various members of the family, the sketches included being relevant so far as possible to that particular person. Items 4,5 and 6 are examples.
Oliver Wates found another old sketch book, dating probably between 1910 and 1920. Five sketches have been included, three on this page, one on the landscape page and one on the flowers page. The book is now in my possession as part of the Wates family archives.
